Hi, my name is Jiewen Zhong, founder of Grain Buds. I want to share why I started this brand and what we stand for.

I grew up in China, surrounded by beauty and wellness wisdom passed down through generations. From traditional Chinese medicine to simple daily rituals, I learned early that true beauty begins within — through balance, nourishment, and mindful living.

When I later moved to the U.S., I felt a disconnect. Beauty often felt fast, surface-focused, and disconnected from the body. I found myself missing the slower, more intentional way of caring for myself that I had always known.

Gua sha became my anchor — a simple ritual that helped me reconnect with my body, my roots, and a more sustainable way of aging. People would often ask about my glow or my “secret,” but there isn’t one. It’s small rituals, practiced consistently, with care.

What began with gua sha gradually grew into something more.

I started creating complementary oils to deepen the ritual, using plant-based, nourishing ingredients. Over time, this evolved into a more holistic approach to everyday care — one that brings together handcrafted, natural self-care products rooted in traditional Chinese herbal wisdom.

Grain Buds is not about perfection, but about returning — to your body, your rhythm, and the quiet rituals that sustain you over time.
